Big Sister

So my daughter is going to be a BIS Sister. I am so surprised that she has reacted so well. She is really excited to have a baby in her tummy...
What have some of your kids done to get ready for a new baby?

Kids are awesome!!!

Everyone thinks that their toddler is so smart but I seriously am amazed every time she opens her mouth. Where does she come up with some of the things that she says? It is like talking to an adult. Which is great and then there is the "adult" talk that is not so welcoming....I am in awe of my little one and just love her so much.
I have found a great cure for a picky eater. If I sit her on the counter with me, while I cook, I have found that she eats so much more now than she did before...

Anyone else?

Christmas and snow-all in the same week

As some of you have read, this is the first year that my family (my husband, my daughter and myself) have spent Christmas at our own home. WOW-I was so content and happy that I thought my heart would burst. If the rest of my family could have been in town with us, my heart would have burst. I am so thankful for all that God has given me in my life. Then as if Christmas wasnt good enough, there was snow...
We had a great day at a friends house-sledding, drinking hot cocoa, talking with adults while the kids played and good food. As I said earlier, I think my heart could have burst.
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Great Snow Day...

Snow Day

I was very disappointed this morning when they closed where I work and I knew I had to entertain my toddler ALL DAY in the house. I was gladly mistaken. We have had a great day-we made cookies, we played sword fights, we danced and so forth...I am so glad to have had this day with her.

I think I finally understand the mind of a toddler!!!

I think I may get it-there is no rhyme or reason behind anything that they do....
That's it-WOW-all that hard work to try and understand them. Don't try.
I was finally able to have patience the whole day with my daughter today. It felt great to just let her be who she is and not try and figure out what she is thinking. I still discipline and parent her but she is still learning the world around her and I need to let her explore as long as she has boundaries.

Whew-I feel much better

Christmas Time

So, I am almost done decorating and buying presents. I think that I deserve a Gold Star since I also have a toddler. She is so funny-she likes Santa Claus but the thought of having to go talk to him or having him bring her presents scares her. She would rather not have presents than to have them brought into her house by Santa Claus. I am so excited to start my traditions this year. I am very thankful to have had Chrsitmas traditions with my parens growing up and cant wait to start those with her. Do you have any special Christmas Traditions?

In the Blink of an Eye

I was looking back over pictures of my daughter tonight. She is only 31 months old but I can totally understand when people say to be careful because they grow up in the blink of an eye. It seems like yesterday that she was born and now she is 31 months old. Where does the time go?
Also, does anyone have an good ideas for potty training a very independent little girl?
